In 1964 Collins Communications began as a small two-way radio shop. Since then we have developed into a communications company providing solutions to everything from security and surveillance systems, telephone systems, two-way radios, managed IT services, business and residential internet services and so much more.
Collins Begins Radio
December 1, 1964
Oil exploration in the Powder River Basin resulted in the need for mobile radio services for customers in the area. In December of 1964, Clarence E.. (Ed) Collins established a two-way radio shop in Gillette, Wyoming.
Collins Begins Voice Department
January 1, 1973
In 1973, Collins added their Voice Department and the business also incorporated when it purchased byEmil Pendleton, Larry Tanner and Rod Thorton.
Collins Adds Security Department
February 25, 1986
Collins Purchases Rosenbaum Alarms and adds a Security Department to our Team.
Collins Celebrates 25years
December 1, 1989
Collins celebrates 25th anniversary, December of 1989.
Addition of Cellular Services
July 15, 1991
In the 1990’s came cellular. Collins Communications became the premier cellular sales group in northeast Wyoming, thereby putting themselves out of the RCC business.
Surveillance Department Added
August 8, 1993
Collins expands their Security Department to add a Surveillance Department
Collins Celebrates 30 years of service
December 15, 1994
Collins celebrated 30 years of service in 1994 with the current owners, Cheryl Dittus and Rick Murray, as employees.
Collins Adds Fire & Life Safety
March 25, 1996
In 1996 Collins added the fire and burglar alarm operations.
New Building is Built
November 28, 2001
The decision was made that the old building needed to be replaced and construction for our current building began in November of 2001.
Became Internet Service Provider
July 28, 2002
By July of 2002, Collins was firmly in control as a diversified electronics firm when it also started to provided wireless internet service in Gillette.
Collins Creates an IT Team
May 12, 2005
Collins continues to grow and creates an IT team providing IT support to business in Gillette and surrounding areas.
Collins Rebrands & Celebrates 50 Years

Collins celebrated their 50 years in business with a fresh new look and rebrandcv
Top Level Certification is Obtained
February 20, 2017
Technicians continue to train and obtain Fire Protection Engineering Technology Fire Alarm Systems, Level: IV through the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies.
